Posting just for you

OK, so I admit it I have not "blogged" in a while. I got called on this tonight during the reception following IUSB's commencement at Notre Dame. Of all people who called me out, the person who got me started on here, Mr. Trent Miles. (How's that for ya Trent)?

The question do I start from today and go backwards? or start from the beginning and come forward?

From the end of my last blog I told of my mom being diagnosed with diabetes, well she has been in the hospital a couple of times since then. Most recent from the Thursday before Easter until this past Friday- so one month and 1 day. Long story short is we know that she has cancer, the doctor is pretty sure it is pancreatic cancer and she has been through one chemo treatment while in the hospital. She was at my commencement ceremonies tonight (May 12, 2009) at Notre Dame. Yeah I walked the walk, though my name was not in the book any where to be found. Oh well.

So I have 3 classes to take, but have dropped my summer classes and will take them in the fall. Why did I drop them? No money to pay for them. Without fianancial aid I really couldn't do much in the way for paying off $2,400 in tutition cost by August 31. The other reason is with my mom sick I wanted to summer off to spend it with her as much as possiable.

So that is my update.

Keep in touch.

Update

Ok, so since February 1, life has been really fun-- NOT...

To recap.

Super bowl Sunday I found my roommate dead, the following Thursday I paid my (non-refundable) deposit ($500.00) for this trip to London-Paris that I was planning to go on through IUSB this summer. On Friday, Feb. 13, I got notice from my mortgage company that my house payment is going up from $489.00 to $655.00 per month, as of April 1, 2009, do to a shortage in my escrow account. So that has now canceled out going on my trip-thankfully they are going to refund my deposit for me...So this now leads me to have to consider getting a second full-time job as my regular full-time job is not providing enough hours in order to survive. We are only working 20-25 hours per week. 30 hours for CVS is considered full-time- without averaging 30 hours we (all the full-time people) are looking at possiably losing our benefits here soon. So the second job has to come along, and it has to be second shift because of being in school, however most second shift jobs start at 2pm. I have a class from 2:30 to 3:45 pm on Mon/Wed. I shall see then what is going to happen.

Let's see, found on two weeks ago that my mom is diabetic, this after she went to the ER because of pain that she was having, that turned out to be a urinary track infection but that is also when we would out about her being diabetic. She got out worked a few days, went back in last friday from the doctor's office because she was having some other problems- they finally released her about an hour ago or so- after nearly a week.

I will be so glad when this month is over. March HAS got to be better

Sunday, February 8, 2009

So this past week has been really crazy for me. A lot of things have happened, and a lot more things (better) are going to happen I am sure.

Last Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday) I came home from church to find my room mate deceased. Not something to was expecting, but was actually always fearful of happening. Long story there so I won't get into it today other then to say that I am letting God take care of things.

Speaking of letting God take care of things I was really trying hard to find a way not to go into work today. Work lately has just really depressed me, to the point that I just don't even want to go in. They have cut our hours, forcing us to use our vacation time in order to keep our average hours up to 30 hours over a 3 month period of face losing our benefits. So yeah coming up soon no insurance. The lack of hours also is hurting the paycheck and the check book and have really been considering whether I want to pick up another day a week at my part-time job or find a second shift job, and it has to be second shift because of school and my part-time job in order to continue to make it. Well at this point I am going to leave it up to God once again- he has been my strength not only this week but in the past and I know that no matter what happens I can depend on him.

Washington D.C. January 20, 2009

I got the opportunity to go out to D.C. this past week for the Inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama with the Civil Rights Heritage Group at IUSB. Wow, what a trip it was!! The van ride with 12 other people whom I did not known made it all worth the while. Just the chance to be a part of history was great. Prior to this time I have never been to D.C.,in fact I was thinking at New Years that I have never been to D.C., even though I have been to Canada, NY City, LA, Kenya, and am going to London-Paris this summer, so what makes this trip so cool is that I was planning to take a train trip out there this summer, spend a day then come back home. I probably will still do that, that way I can spend a little more time sight seeing, but hey it was well worth it.

2009 London - Paris Trip

I have received my official email informing me that I was accepted to go on the London - Paris trip this summer with the International Programs - foreign study program. How much better can life or school get?

New to this

This blog is thanks to Trent. While I was only in class with Trent for a couple of days last semester I "goggled" him and found him on blog spot and have kept up with his life story over the past couple of months, sometimes leaving him comments on different things he has wrote about, and in this case he left me a comment saying "Howard, if your reading this, you gotta get a blog, man!" So here it is. Thanks Trent
